Job summary

Robley Rex Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville, KY seeks a Registered Nurse for the Perioperative (PACU) unit. The RN will provide specialized care across the peri-anesthesia continuum, from Pre-anesthesia through Post-anesthesia care, including sedation/analgesia management during surgical and diagnostic procedures.

The role requires clinical assessment, appropriate post-sedation scoring, and vigilant monitoring of cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and pain

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Kentucky with current license and BLS/ACLS as required.
• Experience in perioperative or PACU care preferred.
• Ability to assess and monitor patients during pre/intra/post anesthesia phase.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized perioperative care across Pre anesthesia Phase, Post anesthesia Phase I and II, and extended care after sedation/analgesia.
• Assess patients for anesthesia suitability; recognize contraindications.
• Document all phases of care accurately in the electronic health record; prepare patients for procedures.
• May be required to perform on-call duties.
