Job summary

Howard University Hospital is seeking a Clinical Registered Nurse in PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) and ASC (Ambulatory Surgery Center). This full-time position involves four 10-hour shifts with on-call duties, promoting patient care and independence.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, current RN license in D.C., and relevant certifications including BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Join a team dedicated to patient-centric care and work-life balance.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia.
Certification in BLS and ACLS through American Heart Association.
PALS certification through AHA within 6 months.
Minimum of 12 months RN experience in acute care telemetry.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with patient/family and health care team to determine health goals.
Maintains awareness of unit’s periodic statistics and participates in improving them.
Provides nursing care per nursing practice standards and policies.
Serves in the rotational role of charge nurse after orientation.
Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport.
Establishes compassionate environment for emotional support.
Promotes patient's independence by establishing care goals and educating them.
Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies.
Maintains nursing supplies inventory and anticipates needs.
Demonstrates competency in various clinical skills.
