Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, Delaware, is seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse II to join our Perianesthesia Services team. This role supports both pre-operative preparation and post-anesthesia recovery in a fast-paced Level I trauma environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking and expertise in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients, with proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring, pain management, airway management, and vascular access.

Qualifications

• Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.
• BSN required or commitment to obtain within 3 years of hire.
• Current RN licensure and BLS.
• ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire.
• At least 2 years of Perianesthesia Nursing, Critical Care, or HVIS experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative and post-anesthesia nursing care for diverse patient populations.
• Assess and interpret clinical data to identify patient needs and ensure safe progression.
• Assist anesthesia providers with nerve blocks and moderate sedation.
• Prepare and recover patients for general, MAC, and local anesthesia.
• Monitor hemodynamics, cardiac rhythm, airway, and pain management.
• Identify risks and implement appropriate interventions.
• Administer IV and oral medications and evaluate responses.
• Collaborate with surgeons and perianesthesia team for exceptional care.
• Delegate tasks to nursing staff based on competency.
