Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (PACU)
Duties & Responsibilities
- RNs must have worked in a Recovery Room, providing ICU-level care to post-procedural patients, and have successfully completed formal training in post-anesthesia care.
- RNs must have experience caring for patients recovering from procedures originating from various areas, including the OR, IR, Cath Lab, GI, ECT, and pain procedures, as well as Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Colorectal, ENT, Plastic Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Vascular, Podiatry, Thoracic, and General Surgery.
- RNs must be skilled in monitoring patients’ vital signs, managing post-anesthesia complications, administering medications, and providing patient and family education.
- RNs must be adaptable, knowledgeable in PACU protocols and patient safety measures, and able to anticipate and respond to the needs of recovering surgical patients to ensure a safe and efficient recovery process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current, valid, and unrestricted CA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent Post Anesthesia Care nursing experience in a Level I Trauma Institution in a metropolitan city with a diverse population.
- AHA BLS/ACLS/NRP, MAB or CPI, LA City Fire and Life Safety Card (must be LA City).
- Must complete the LA County Employee Health Clearance before assignment start date.
- Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
- Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
