Job summary

United Surgical Partners International, Inc. is seeking a PACU Registered Nurse (PACU RN) to provide continuous, high-quality care to patients emerging from anesthesia or sedation. The role includes assessment, planning, and coordination of PACU care for patients of all ages, in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Qualified candidates hold a PA RN license, BLS/ACLS, and ideally PALS within one year. Prior perioperative experience and strong communication are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Active RN license in PA.
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred within 12 months of hire.
• One year or more perioperative experience preferred.
• Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching abilities.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide total care for patients emerging from anesthesia or sedation.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in PACU.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times.
• Communicate promptly with the care team and physicians as needed.

PACU Registered Nurse (PACU RN)

The PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate. Will provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge. Plans, coordinates, and oversees care for patients of any age in the PACU department. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center. Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to other team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the manager, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and projects.

Qualifications

• PALS preferred upon hire and required within one year of hiring
• One year experience preferred in a perioperative setting.
• Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
• Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written
