The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, seeks a PACU/Pre-Op Registered Nurse to deliver safe, evidence-based care for patients recovering from anesthesia. You will monitor vitals, manage pain, assist with airway support, and coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, and recovery teams in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include pre-op assessment, IV initiation, patient education, EMR documentation, and supporting patients and families through the surgical journey.

Qualifications

• DC RN license (or eligible)
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in PACU, ICU, or Emergency Department

Responsabilités

• Provide nursing care to PACU and Pre-Op patients
• Monitor vital signs, pain levels, and recovery status post-anesthesia
• Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including IV initiation and education
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other care providers
• Recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Document all aspects of patient care in the EMR
• Support patients and families with education and reassurance throughout the surgical journey
