Job summary

Mid-America Surgery Institute in Overland Park, KS is seeking a PACU Nurse for our ambulatory surgery center who provides postoperative care until discharge. You will work with a team that values safe, high-quality care and family-centered service.

The role emphasizes airway management, monitoring, and timely discharge decisions while maintaining patient comfort and safety, supported by HCA Healthcare resources.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or higher required.
• 1+ years of nursing experience in clinical PACU/Surgery settings preferred.
• Active RN license and BCLS/ACLS (within required timelines).

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient care area with equipment and supplies.
• Demonstrate airway management techniques.
• Monitor patients per policy (vital signs, temperature, cardiac).
• Insert, maintain, and remove IV catheters/saline locks as needed.
• Perform and document head-to-toe evaluation using approved scoring system.
• Check dressings or operative site and report abnormalities.
• Provide a safe and comforting environment for patients and families.
• Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.
