Job summary

University of Utah Health Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City seeks a skilled Registered Nurse to provide pre- and post-anesthesia care in PACU/SSU, monitor recovery, and support safe discharge.

This PRN role requires flexibility to cover rotating schedules, including weekends and nights; candidates must hold Utah RN license and obtain required credentials within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah.
• Interstate Compact license if residency remains outside Utah.
• RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential to be obtained within 30 days.
• RQI Healthcare Provider ALS eCredential to be obtained within 90 days.
• Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

• Pre- and post-operative assessments for inpatients/outpatients; identify abnormal findings and initiate protocols.
• Provide nursing care for patients recovering from anesthesia in PACU/SSU and ambulatory settings.
• Monitor post-anesthesia recovery data and discharge readiness indicators.
• Stabilize common recovery issues using standing orders and established protocols.
• Coordinate ambulatory discharge and communicate status changes with the team.
