Job summary

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a PACU nurse to provide pre- and post-operative care in a 10-bed unit. You will initiate IVs, administer medications, educate patients, document care, and support recovery from anesthesia.

We value ICU experience and a team-oriented mindset; ACLS and BLS are required for external candidates. This 40-hour position includes on-call requirements and rotating shifts to cover 24/7 care.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• ICU experience preferred; ED/step-down/floor-level experience considered.
• BSN preferred.
• BLS certification required prior to hire; ACLS required for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care in PACU.
• Initiate IVs, administer medications, educate patients, and document required information.
• Recover patients from anesthesia and manage postoperative care per ASPAN guidelines.
• Care for a 10-bed PACU across multiple surgical services; 24/7 coverage with on-call requirements.
• Maintain a 2:1 patient/nurse ratio and contribute to teamwork and patient safety.
