Job summary

You'll work with automated and semi-automated equipment, perform routine adjustments, and collaborate with team members to maintain a clean, organized work area and timely packaging of parts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Set up the machine, observe operation, and ensure packing per specifications.
• Adjust tooling and set packing speeds and feed rates.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections as required.
• Observe all safety rules and procedures.
• Assist other Packing Operators with setup, stacking, marking, packing, and transport.
• Maintain a neat, organized work area and contribute as a team member.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
• Contribute to meeting Kanban card requirements.

Position Overview

OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster®. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier.

At OMG, we use safe machine operating processes, hand-packing techniques, and effective lean manufacturing principles to pack our products. This position routinely operates automated- and semi–automated machines to pack parts according to specifications and Kanban card requirements. The Packing Operator may also hand pack at times as product needs demand. The Packing Operator must be a team player and committed to delivering the best quality to our customers.

Position Responsibilities

• Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.


• Set up the machine, observe machine operation, and ensure the product is packed according to specifications.


• Adjust specified tooling and set packing speeds and feed rates.


• Perform preventative maintenance inspections as required.


• Observe all safety rules.


• Assist other Packing Operators with the machine set up, and stacking, marking, packing, and transporting the packed product.


• Maintain a neat and well-organized work area.

Position Requirements

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in high-noise areas and wear appropriate hearing protection devices.


• Manual material handling involving the need to grip, squeeze, and pinch.


• Ability to use a hard tined rake to move/break apart parts frequently.


• The position requires the ability to regularly stand for long periods of time.


• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift/push/pull/carry up to 50
