Job summary

DrugPlastics & Glass Company Inc. in Kentucky is seeking a Packer Inspector to pack finished product into cartons and ensure quality per PQS. This hourly position offers 2nd or 3rd shift availability and requires adherence to GMPs and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include carton preparation, labeling, bottle inspection, and daily production reporting. Overtime and a fast-paced environment are to be expected; vision must be 20/20, and basic math skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Good mathematical skills to perform basic math calculations, including addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to read effectively while performing job duties and determine product quality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Vision must be correctable to 20/20 to read materials and identify defects and colors.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety guidelines, GMPs and Company policies.
  • Prepare cartons for stack-packed or tumble-packed products and place cartons as needed.
  • Apply carton labels as defined.
  • Inspect bottles according to the PQS form and company policy.
  • Remove full cartons from packing areas and close cartons per PQS and procedures.
  • Grind scrap and rejected bottles generated by machines.
  • Complete and provide daily production reports to supervisor.
  • Notify supervisor of any quality issues or machinery problems.

The Packer Inspector is an hourly position with 2nd or 3rd shift availability. Packer Inspectors are responsible for packing finished product into cartons and to assure that the product meets the quality standards defined on the Product Quality Standard (PQS) form.

Major Areas of Responsibility Include:
  • Follow safety guidelines, Company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Prepare the carton to receive the “stack packed” or “tumble packed” product and place the cartons as necessary.
  • Apply carton labels as defined.
  • Inspect bottles in accordance with DPG policy and the PQS form. Products are stack or tumble packed, and inspected based upon customer specifications and requirements.
  • Remove full cartons from packing stand or from tumble pack area, then close the carton in accordance with DPG procedure and PQS sheet.
  • Grind all clean scrap and rejected bottles generated by the machines for which they are responsible.
  • Complete and provide to supervisor all required daily production reports.
  • Immediately notify Process Mechanics and/or supervisor of any discovered, or suspected product quality problems or mechanical malfunctioning of equipment for which they are responsible.
Job Requirements:
  • Good mathematical skills to perform basic math calculations, to include addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to read effectively while performing job duties, as well as in determining whether the product meets quality standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment and under pressure.
  • Vision must be correctable to ’20-20’ to read all necessary work-related materials and visually identify defects in products being produced. Must be able to perceive and accurately identify differences in colors and shadings.
  • Ability to work overtime (OT) as required.
Physical Demands:

These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

  • The work performed by the employee is indoors.
  • The employee is required to walk and stand for the majority of the job.
  • The employee must have good motor skills and be able to continuously lift 5lbs. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and carry 55 lbs.
  • The employee is required to occasionally bend, squat and reach above shoulder level, as well as turn, twist, pull, and push.
  • Vision abilities for this job include close vision.
