Job summary

Sonoco is seeking a Packer II on the Second Shift in Hartselle, AL. You will wrap, pack, label and secure crates for shipment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications include reading/writing English, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods. Training is provided in a safety-focused environment with exposure to noise and heat. This is a full-time, on-site role with competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Wraps, protects, and packs items and equipment.
• Crates and labels containers with proper ID.
• Weighs and stacks products and containers.
• Follows safety procedures at all times.
• Monitors product quality and reports defects.
• Applies heat shrink to reduce diameters.
• Assists with maintenance and repairs as needed.

Position: Packer II (Second Shift) Location: Hartselle, AL, Plug Plant Pay Rate: $21.53 /hr + .75 Shift Diff Shift: Second Shift 2p-10p

Responsibilities:

• Wraps, protects, and packs machinery, equipment or other items.
• Bands, seals, glues, nails, labels and stencils crates and other containers with appropriate identification.
• Weighs, transports, stacks or arranges products and packed containers.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Monitor the quality of product being produced and report any defects or malfunctions to supervisors.
• Apply heat shrink materials to tubes, pipes, or other items to reduce diameter.
• Assist with maintenance and repairs as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and move quickly.
• Work environment may include exposure to noise, vibration, heat, cold, chemicals, greases, and lubricants.
