Job summary

TOPPAN Packaging Americas in Batavia, IL is seeking a Packer I to support the finishing department by packaging product to specification, aiding production flow, and maintaining quality in an indoor manufacturing environment. Shifts are 1st and 2nd with some overtime on Fridays; wage is $19.93/hour plus a $1.00 shift differential.

Preferred candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months packing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to lift and stand

Responsibilities

  • Package product to meet all specified requirements.
  • Ensure nonconforming material is segregated and identified.
  • Report unidentified non-conformances.
  • Support Gluers as a packer/inspector.
  • Place stacks of cards into gluer feed tables and catch glued product for cases.
  • Interact positively with other departments.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and complete shift sweep sheets.
  • Follow safety and operational procedures.

Position: Packer I

Location: Batavia

Wage: $19.93/hour (+$1.00 shift differential)

Shift: 1st Shift Hours: 4AM-2PM | 2nd Shift Hours: 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM| Monday through Thursday (with some overtime on Fridays)

Summary Description

While reporting directly to the Shift Supervisor, this role supports the finishing department by packaging product to specification, assisting production flow, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment.

The responsibilities listed below are not exhaustive, and employees are expected to perform other duties assigned by management as needed.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Package product to meet all specified requirements
  • Ensure all nonconforming material is segregated, properly identified, and stacked together
  • Report all unidentified non-conformances
  • Support Gluers as a packer/inspector
  • Place stacks of cards into gluer feed tables and/or catch glued product and place into cases
  • Interact and communicate positively with other departments
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including completion of sweep sheets at the end of each shift
  • Follow all safety and operational procedures

We’d Love to Hear From You If

  • You have strong mechanical aptitude
  • You have at least 6 months of packing experience preferred
  • You are comfortable handling complex issues and solving problems
  • You can lift and move heavy objects safely
  • You can place cards into corrugated boxes (approximately 1 to 2 pounds depending on card size and stack)
  • You can push at chest height (8 to 45 pounds)
  • You can pull at waist height (5 to 10 pounds)
  • You can reach/stretch 20 inches while holding approximately 5 pounds
  • You can handle cases ranging from 8 to 45 pounds depending on size and quantity
  • You can stand for 8+ hours per day
  • You can work in indoor manufacturing conditions including heat, humidity, and production noise

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Work Environment

  • Indoor manufacturing environment
  • Summer temperatures can reach up to 100°F
  • Exposure to humidity
  • Noise from production machinery (below 85 DSP)
