Job Title: Packer

Reports to:

Lead or Supervisor

Job Description Overview:

The Packer will be responsible for pulling plastic items (preforms) from a box and placing them on the conveyor, and/or pulling bottles and jars from a conveyor belt, inspecting them per QC specifications, and packaging them accordingly.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Follow all safety policies.
  2. Follow GMP policies & guidelines.
  3. Remove plastic preforms from boxes, inspect per quality specifications, and place on conveyor as instructed.
  4. Remove bottles/jars from conveyor, inspect per quality specifications.
  5. Pack bottles/jars according to packaging specifications at the work center.
  6. Communicate issues or quality concerns to co-workers, Lead, or shift change team.
  7. Operate production equipment; start & stop equipment as trained, clear jams.
  8. Assist in documenting quality or machine downtime data.
  9. Manually form boxes & trays; operate box-making machinery.
  10. Ensure defects are categorized and segregated properly.
  11. Perform machine cleaning and sanitation as required.
  12. Maintain housekeeping duties at the work center.
  13. Follow VPET's Quality Management system including procedures and work instructions.
  14. Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Other skills and abilities:
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English preferred.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Work well in a team and individually.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Work scheduled shifts, including overtime and weekends as required.
  • Commitment to organizational success.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Perform pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Perform repetitive motions like reaching and grasping.
  • Work environment varies between hot and cold warehouse conditions.
  • Fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
