The Packer will be responsible for pulling plastic items (preforms) from a box and placing them on the conveyor, as well as pulling bottles and jars from a conveyor belt, inspecting them according to QC specifications, and packaging them as per packaging guidelines.
Responsibilities include:
- Following all safety policies.
- Removing plastic preforms from boxes, inspecting them, and placing on the conveyor as instructed.
- Removing bottles/jars from the conveyor, inspecting them, and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Packing bottles/jars according to packaging specifications at the work center.
- Communicating issues or quality concerns to co-workers, leads, or during shift changes.
- Interacting with production equipment, starting/stopping as trained, and clearing jams.
- Documenting quality issues or machine downtime.
- Forming boxes and trays by hand and operating box-making machinery.
- Separating defects and categorizing them appropriately.
- Performing cleaning and sanitation of machines as required.
- Maintaining housekeeping duties at the work center.
- Following VPET's Quality Management System, including procedures and work instructions.
- Performing any other tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English preferred.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective teamwork and individual work skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including overtime and weekends.
- Commitment to organizational success.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Capability to push, pull, twist, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
- Perform repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping.
- Work environment includes warehouse conditions with temperature variations.
