Job description

The Packer will be responsible for pulling plastic items (preforms) from a box and placing them on the conveyor, as well as pulling bottles and jars from a conveyor belt, inspecting them per QC specifications, and packaging them according to packaging standards.

Responsibilities include:
  • Following all safety policies
  • Removing plastic preforms from boxes, inspecting per quality specifications, and placing on conveyor
  • Removing bottles/jars from conveyor belt, inspecting per quality specifications
  • Packing bottles/jars as per posted packaging specifications
  • Communicating issues or quality concerns to co-workers, lead, or shift change team
  • Interacting with production equipment: starting, stopping, and clearing jams as trained
  • Assisting in documenting quality or machine downtime data
  • Forming boxes and trays manually; operating box-making machinery
  • Ensuring defects are categorized and separated appropriately
  • Performing machine cleaning and sanitation as required
  • Performing housekeeping duties at the work center
  • Following VPET's Quality Management System, including procedures and work instructions
  • Performing other tasks as assigned
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English preferred
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Effective teamwork and individual work skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including overtime and weekends
  • Commitment to organizational success
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods
  • Lift and carry up to 30 lbs
  • Push, pull, twist, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl as needed
  • Perform repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping
  • Work environment varies between hot and cold warehouse conditions
  • Fast-paced environment with changing priorities
