Job summary

Amcor is seeking a packaging technician to visually inspect products, pack quality items into boxes per customer specifications, and promptly scrap any non-conformities. You will read travelers, prepare packaging, and keep a clean workstation on a rotating 12-hour schedule, two days on two days off, etc.

You must lift up to 35 pounds, stand for long periods, wear PPE, and report safety concerns to the Group Leader as part of Amcor's commitment to food safety and high standards.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read the traveler and complete paperwork.
  • Lift up to 35 pounds over head.
  • Stand and walk for long shifts (12 hours).
  • Use PPE: safety glasses, ear plugs, bump caps, beard/hair nets, steel toe shoes.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect product and identify non-conformities.
  • Pack quality product into boxes per customer specifications and Berry quality guidelines.
  • Immediately place non-conforming product into scrap bins.
  • Prepare packaging per traveler instructions; read travelers for accuracy.
  • Pack lids or containers from assigned machines; maintain organized work area.
  • Report safety concerns or problems to the Group Leader.

Job DescriptionEnsuring my safety and the safety of my co-workers is a core value and is my number one priority.Visually inspect product and identify product non-conformities.Pack quality product into boxes, according to customer specifications and Berry quality guidelines.Immediately place non-conforming product into the scrap bins as soon as it is found.Read travelers and compare labels for accuracy.Prepare packaging in accordance with traveler instructions.Repetitive motion work with hands.Communicate questions regarding quality with necessary personnel.Maintain a clean and organized work station.Must be able to read the traveler and complete paperwork.Pack lids or containers from any assigned machine.Knows which supplies are needed each day and where to get them.Report any safety concerns or problems to the Group Leader.Staff are informed and held accountable for their food safety and regulatory responsibilities;Staff are positively encouraged and required to notify management of actual or potential food safety issues; andStaff are empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work.Make boxes, as necessaryEDUCATIONAL, SKILL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.Lifting Requirements - Ability to lift 35 pounds over head.Walking/Standing-Requirements ability to walk and or stand for 12 hours per day.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.At a minimum, the environment requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment such as: safety glasses, ear plugs, bump caps, beard/hair nets, and steel toed shoes.
