Job summary

Silgan Plastics in Seymour, Indiana is seeking manufacturing staff to ensure product safety and quality across duties on the production line.

You will promote a safe work environment, adhere to safety policies, monitor ware for defects, and perform packing, labeling, and cartonization tasks. The role requires lifting 30–40 lb materials and operating line equipment in a on-site setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure product safety and quality in all duties.
• Promote a safe working environment and follow Silgan safety policies.
• Monitor ware for quality defects and inform supervisor as needed.
• Pack at standard rate and operate line equipment.
• Load conveyors and flamers; perform housekeeping on assigned lines.
• Remove scrap, grind and pull plastic; unitize cartons and label boxes.
• Complete unit tickets and assist with other duties as directed by supervisor.

Job description

• Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Has a fundamental responsibility to ensure product safety and quality as it applies to all duties listed below.
• Promote a safe working environment
• Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers
• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/ or the coordinator.
• Pack at standard rate.
• Operate a punch.
• Load conveyors and flamers.
• Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.
• Remove scrap from around the line.
• Grind and pull plastic as needed.
• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
• Initial and date box labels.
• Make out unit tickets.
• Do any other work assigned by the Supervisor.
• Ability to work with 30-40 lb. materials
