Job summary

Silgan is seeking a production-oriented operator at our Alabama facility. The role focuses on maintaining product safety and quality across the packaging line, with responsibilities ranging from carton making to line housekeeping and equipment operation.

The position requires handling 30-40 lb. materials, adherence to safety policies, and willingness to take on additional tasks as directed by supervision. It is an on-site, full-time role within a drug-free workplace.

• Promote a safe working environment.
• Adheres to Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers.
• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/or the coordinator.
• Pack at standard rate.
• Operate a punch.
• Load conveyors and flamers.
• Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.
• Remove scrap from around the line.
• Grind and pull plastic as needed.
• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
• Initial and date box labels.
• Make out unit tickets.
• Do any other work assigned by the Supervisor.
