Job summary

Silgan Plastics in Seymour, CT, is seeking a manufacturing line operator to help run the packaging line with a strong emphasis on product safety, quality, and efficiency. You will work on a fast-paced production floor alongside experienced teammates.

Responsibilities include monitoring for defects, packing at standard rate, labeling boxes, and performing routine housekeeping. You must be able to lift 30–40 lb and follow all Silgan safety policies to keep a safe workplace.

• Pack at standard rate and operate line equipment.
• Load conveyors and flamers and perform basic line housekeeping.
• Label boxes, unit tickets, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Handle 30-40 lb materials as required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Has a fundamental responsibility to ensure product safety and quality as it applies to all duties listed below.
• Promote a safe working environment
• Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers
• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/or the coordinator.
• Pack at standard rate.
• Operate a punch.
• Load conveyors and flamers.
• Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.
• Remove scrap from around the line.
• Grind and pull plastic as needed.
• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
• Initial and date box labels.
• Make out unit tickets.
• Do any other work assigned by the Supervisor.
• Ability to work with 30-40 lb. materials
