Job summary

Butterball Farms, Inc. is seeking a full-time Packer in Grand Rapids, MI to operate on the 2nd shift. You will pack, inspect, label, and weigh butter, maintaining quality while working quickly in a food-manufacturing setting.

The position pays $15.00/hour plus a $0.75/hour shift differential for 2nd shift. Schedule is Mon-Fri 1:45pm-9:45pm with occasional Saturdays, and the company emphasizes GMP compliance, teamwork, and safety with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in a food manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Ability to read and follow standard work instructions.
• Demonstrated accuracy in fast-paced production.

Responsibilities

• Pack product and box it at a steady pace.
• Visually inspect for defects and ensure weight/consistency.
• Assemble boxes and bags, print labels.
• Perform hourly metal detector checks.
• Take butter samples for QA testing.
• Multi-task in a fast-paced line environment.
• Create skid patterns and stack boxes per spec.
• Operate tape-gun or tape machine for sealing.
• Verify date, lot code and label accuracy.
• Log downtime or issues in RedZone via tablet.
• Move finished product to freezer and wrap skids.
• Maintain clean work area and assist with cleanup.
• Assist with additional tasks as requested.

Pay: $15.00/hour plus $0.75 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift

Schedule Available: 1:45pm-9:45pm Monday - Friday with occasional Saturdays.

As a Packer you will be responsible to:

• Keep up with rate and pack product into boxes
• Visually inspect the product for any defects
• Carefully monitor the consistency and weight of the butter to make sure it is within range
• Properly assemble boxes and place appropriate bags
• Properly enter information to create labels and print them
• Hourly metal detector checks
• Gather butter samples for QA testing
• Work at a fast pace and multi-task
• Properly create skid pattern and stack boxes based on product specification
• Properly use a tape-gun to close boxes or properly use a tape machine
• Visualize and verify the correct date, lot code, and label is reflecting on the product being run
• Ability to enter downtime or any line/product issues into RedZone using a tablet
• Transport finished product to the freezer and wrap finished skids
• Maintain a clean area throughout the shift and after the run is complete help the team clean up the area
• Additional tasks as requested

• Ability to work at a consistent, fast pace for extended periods of time
• Ability to keep up with a fast pace production line
• Be flexible with their work schedule to accommodate high work volume
• General math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Ability to adhere to GMP policies and maintain quality standards of the product
• A stable job history
• Previous Food Manufacturing experience is a plus!
