Job summary

You will operate packing lines, assemble boxes, seal containers, inspect packaging, and ensure correct weights and codes are applied. You may handle products in temperatures near 32-36 °F and must lift up to 50 lbs while standing all shift.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Pack finished bags into boxes in a timely manner to the pace of the line.
• Lift bags of finished product up to 50 pounds during shift.
• Make boxes by lifting corrugated strips and folding into a box.
• Seal containers using a case sealing machine and verify weights and codes.
• Operate tape machine and apply labels with correct dates.
• Inspect boxes, materials and products for packaging specifications.
• Replenish packaging supplies as needed.
• Handle products at 32–36°F.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Packer Position is responsible for packing bags of finished goods into corrugated boxes and containers for the duration of 8 hours or more depending on volume and according to customer specification.

Job Function Statements Essential Functions:

• Pack finished bags into boxes in a timely manner and to the pace of the packaging machine or production line.
• Lift bags of finished product (up to 35 lbs.) throughout duration of the shift.
• Make boxes by lifting the corrugated strips and folding them into a box.
• Places products into containers and seals containers by using case sealing machine.
• Operates tape machine using proper tape and code dates to be applied to boxes.
• Examines and inspects boxes, materials, product codes and products to ensure that packaging specifications are met.
• Inspects overall condition of box and verifies weight
• Replenishes packaging supplies as needed
• Handle product that may have a temperature of 32-36 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift (8 hours or more), perform repetitive motions throughout shift such as push/pull/lift, bend continuously throughout the shift, lift up to 50 pounds, and be able to climb stairs or step up onto a platform several times throughout the shift.
• Must be able to work in a noisy, wet and cold environment of approximately 36 degrees Fahrenheit
• Must be able to work 6 consecutive days, overtime and weekends if necessary
• Must be able to count
