Peet's Coffee is hiring a Packaging Technician (Machine Operator) to safely operate and monitor packaging equipment, ensuring high-quality products daily. You will set up machines, perform routine adjustments, and collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Operate grinding and/or packaging equipment to process coffee according to the daily production schedule.
• Follow safety, food safety, and quality standards (GMPs and procedures).
• Perform quality checks and keep production and quality records.
• Monitor equipment performance and report issues to leadership; report equipment issues to Maintenance/Engineering.
• Support productivity and ensure a clean, safe work area.
• Assist training of team members and temporary workers at the workstation.

Packaging Technician (Machine Operator)

The Packaging Technician (Machine Operator) plays a key role in our production team by safely operating and monitoring packaging equipment to deliver high-quality products every day. In this role, you’ll set up machines, make routine adjustments, perform quality checks, and work closely with production, maintenance, and quality partners to keep operations running smoothly. You’ll help maintain a clean, safe work environment while meeting production goals and food safety standards.

Schedule: This position works 2nd Shift, Monday-Fri from 3:30pm-12:00am

What You Will Do:

• Operate grinding and/or packaging equipment to process coffee according to the daily production schedule
• Follow all workplace safety, food safety, and quality standards, including GMPs and standard operating procedures
• Perform quality checks, complete required production and quality records, and ensure product meets specifications
• Monitor equipment performance and communicate safety, quality, or production issues to leadership; report equipment issues to Maintenance/Engineering
• Support productivity and efficiency while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area
• Assist with training and guiding team members and temporary workers at the workstation as needed

Who You Are:

• 1 year of production experience as a machine technician or machine operator.
• Basic math, reading, and writing skills
• Basic computer skills
• Willingness to work overtime as needed, including Saturdays
• Ability to uphold and follow safety, food safety, and production quality standards
• Attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness and reliability
• Works well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility, accountability, and a willingness to assist others as needed.
• Maintains a positive attitude and contributes to a respectful, collaborative, and supportive work environment.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Exposures:

The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking in addition to the following:

• Able to work 8-hour shifts while standing, lifting, bending, and reaching
• Must be able to work on your feet for over 9 straight hours
• Able to perform physical tasks that are repetitive, and lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis
• Must be able to lift 80 pounds 20% of the shift
• Must be able to endure constant leaning and bending during the shift
• Must be able to handle/move up to 750-pound bins on casters

The target annual base salary range for this position is $20 - $22 per hour. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education, certifications or licenses, other legitimate non-discriminatory business factors, and the geographic location of the role.

In addition to base pay, individuals in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
