Position Details

Packaging Tech 1 / Packaging Tech 2

Hours: Day shift (Mon - Fri / 7:00 am - 3:30 pm)

Summary

The responsibilities of Packaging Technician 1 & 2 include detecting and identifying defect trends during inspection, accurately inspecting and selecting product samples for quality and stability testing, performing labeling activities, and verifying product and diluent vial labeling for accuracy.

Responsibilities for Packaging Tech 1
  • Perform paced inspections of final container products for defects.
  • Document tasks on Batch Production Records, SOPs, or other acceptable forms.
  • Maintain department housekeeping and adhere to safety and cGMP policies.
  • Meet visual inspection recertification requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional duties include setting up, operating, and troubleshooting packaging equipment, manual packaging, inspecting packaged products, conducting counts, and operating material handling equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Must pass vision testing for near vision and color blindness.
  • Capable of identifying product defects per PDA Lexicon and SOPs.
  • Maintain focus during packaging activities.
Minimum Requirements

Tech 1: High School Diploma; experience in packaging operations or inspection preferred.

Position for Packaging Tech 2
  • Perform duties similar to Tech 1, with additional responsibilities such as troubleshooting, maintaining, and changeover of packaging equipment.
  • Set up and operate serialization equipment, vial labelers, cartoners, shrink banding machines, etc.
  • Review and enter data into systems like LIMS, SAP.
  • Maintain knowledge of product specifications and evaluate rejected labels.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Tech 2
  • Same as Tech 1, with additional technical skills in equipment setup and troubleshooting.
Minimum Requirements

HS Diploma and 1-year packaging inspector/label verification experience, preferably in pharma or biotech.

Work Environment

Manufacturing setting with exposure to biological fluids, chemicals, machinery, noise, and extreme temperatures. Physical demands include standing, lifting, reaching, and manual dexterity.
