Job summary

ADM Colby, WI is seeking a Packaging Technician to operate packaging lines, weigh pouches with a conveyor system, and ensure accurate labeling and carton preparation. You will count, palletize, and monitor case weights while maintaining clean, compliant workstations.

The role requires high school diploma, GMP/HACCP familiarity, and the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, stand for long periods, and work 6am–2pm with possible overtime. Background check may be required.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP principles is expected.
  • Must follow Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines and report safety concerns promptly.
  • Ability to read scales and verify weights during packaging.
  • Heavy lifting up to 70 pounds and long standing tolerance are required.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up, move, manipulate and count pouches of product at a rapid pace.
  • Accurately and neatly arrange cases on pallets per instructions.
  • Operate a scale to monitor and adjust case weights.
  • Apply correct labels on cases and pallets.
  • Review and verify container labels and ink jet messaging.
  • Fold, tape and insert liners into boxes.
  • Handle cheese products and repackage as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader or Management.
  • Report any suspicious activity related to food defense.

Packaging Technician- Colby, WI
General Requirements
  • Follow time and attendance guidelines in accordance with the employee handbook.
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment and accept and follow directions.
  • Able to stand for long periods while leaning forward.
  • Ability to regularly lift and / or carry up to 70 pounds individually or with assistance.
  • Continuously lift up to 35 pounds and moving or stacking on a pallet for at least two hours.
  • Ability to squat and bend frequently during shift.
  • Ability to grasp, reach, twist, push and / or pull using both hands and wrists continuously.
  • Capable of accurately operating and reading a scale.
  • Able to work around moving conveyors without motion sickness.
  • Tolerant of seasonally very warm temperatures.
  • Shift Hours: 6am-2pm, with possible overtime on weekends and holidays. Must have schedule flexibility.
Quality Control Requirements
  • Appreciation for cleanliness and sanitation, keeping work area clean and organized.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Awareness of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and its importance.
  • Follow all Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines.
  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wear appropriate apparel for the job.
  • Note: Required to report food safety problems or concerns immediately to a person with authority to initiate action as indicated on the organizational chart.
Safety Requirements
  • Be aware of and follow up to date OSHA regulations that apply to the tasks in your job.
  • Practice safe lifting techniques, bending and lifting with your legs not your back.
  • Pivot with your feet avoiding twisting at the waist.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, watching for forklift traffic and trip hazards such as pallets or cords.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job you are doing.
  • Never operate equipment for which you have not been properly trained or certified for.
Education/Certifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Job Responsibilities

  • Handle cheese products in order to cut into smaller pieces and repackage as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Team Leader, Supervisor or Management.
  • Report any suspicious activity related to food defense.
  • ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.
