Job summary

Catalent's Philadelphia, PA site is seeking a Packaging Technician to support clinical trial packaging operations across ambient, refrigerated and frozen products, with regular work in cold storage environments. This hands-on role requires accuracy, adherence to SOPs, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Shift: Monday to Friday, 4:00pm–12:15am.

Location: Philadelphia, PA. 100% onsite in a union environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications, current Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and follow written and oral instructions accurately while communicating effectively.
  • Ability to regularly work in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended and intermittent periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for prolonged periods; Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks, inspections, documentation, and sanitation activities while wearing required PPE in cold environments.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect blister cavities, bottles, pouches, vials, ampoules, syringes, and sealed clinical cards for defects.
  • Perform hand counts of products using trays and fill tablets, bottles, desiccant, and closure hoppers.
  • Support manufacturing tasks including de‑inking product, tablet breaking, oversized capsule filling, and capsule inspection.
  • Place blister units into assigned card locations for multi‑fill operations, following product assignment requirements on look‑alike or multi‑fill projects; Inspect and verify clinical labels, ensuring 100% accountability for both manual and automated applications
  • Perform cleaning of product contact parts, machine equipment, and production rooms according to SOPs and logbook requirements; Execute sanitation tasks using the three‑bucket mop system for ceilings, walls, and floors
  • Perform packaging, inspection, labeling, material handling, and sanitation activities within ambient, refrigerated, and freezer environments as an essential function of the role, in accordance with SOPs, GMP standards, and project requirements
  • Transition between ambient and temperature‑controlled environments, including refrigerator and freezer rooms, multiple times per shift based on operational needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Packaging Technician to join our team. This role supports clinical trial packaging operations that include ambient, refrigerated, and frozen products and requires regular performance of job duties within cold storage environments as an essential function of the position. You will work effectively in a group setting and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure success. This is a hands‑on role in a dynamic environment where attention to detail and compliance are key.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 4:00pm - 12:15am

The Role
  • Inspect blister cavities, bottles, pouches, vials, ampoules, syringes, and sealed clinical cards for defects such as missing products, poor seals, misaligned closures, print errors, or contamination
  • Perform hand counts of products using trays and fill tablets, bottles, desiccant, and closure hoppers
  • Support manufacturing tasks including de‑inking product, tablet breaking, oversized capsule filling, and capsule inspection
  • Place blister units into assigned card locations for multi‑fill operations, following product assignment requirements on look‑alike or multi‑fill projects; Inspect and verify clinical labels, ensuring 100% accountability for both manual and automated applications

The Candidate
Minimum Requirements
