Job summary

Gruma Corporation in Plainview, TX is seeking a Packing Supervisor under the supervision of the Production Manager. Responsible for organizing packing and additive personnel and coordinating all packing department activities to ensure timely packing of flour products while maintaining equipment in good working order.

This role requires staffing, training, and compliance with safety and environmental systems, including HACCP and EMS guidelines, while overseeing reports and ensuring clean, safe

Qualifications

  • Requires supervision experience in a manufacturing/food production setting.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and safety certifications is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, training and staff coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee packing of 50 lb and retail bags and Hopper Cars.
  • Ensure product quality (flour) is properly packed and additives are applied.
  • Supervise reprocessing of flour and interchanges; ensure accurate packing/additive reports.
  • Ensure safety equipment usage and that packing areas are kept clean.
  • Support EMS/Environmental ISO-14000 policies and department safety goals.

General Summary

Also responsible for staffing, training and coordinating all aspects of the packing department and ensures adequate and prompt packing of product while maintaining equipment and machinery running in accurate working conditions. Ensures support of departmental safety goals, environmental ISO-14000, corporate mandate and other assignments as required.

Essential Functions
  • To control and ensure the packing of 50 lb. and retail bags.
  • To control and ensure the packing of the Hopper Cars.
  • To ensure the quality of the product (flour) is being packed.
  • To supervise the addition of additives to the flour.
  • To supervise the reprocess of flour and interchange.
  • Must make sure that all packing and additive reports are filled out correctly.
  • Must ensure that all employees under him/her have their safety equipment.
  • Must ensure that the packing and additive areas are kept clean.

  • Performs additional duties in relation to local packing area as required
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in business management, manufacturing or related to agricultural field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of Supervisory related experience.
  • Certifications: HACCP and other Safety Certifications is a plus.
Environmental Management System

Responsibilities and Acknowledgement:

  • To know and apply Food Safety Policy principles in relation to all work-related activities and the importance of full compliance of the program.
  • To know and apply Quality and Food Safety principles and all applicable instructions in all related activities to ensure the achievement of safety objective.
  • To know the Food Safety Management System and support in its implementation, maintenance, and improvement.
Responsibilities With The Environmental Management System
  • To know and apply Environmental Policy principles whiles maintaining awareness of related activities and contribute to the programs successful performance and compliance.
  • To perform all activities and avoid creating significant environmental impacts by following guidelines established in the Environmental Management Systems documents.
  • Understand and apply the Environmental Management System documents applicable to my roles, with an awareness of the relevance and importance of my activities to achieve EMS objectives, including environmental protections and compliance with applicable legal requirements.
