Job summary

RRD, a leading global provider of packaging and display solutions, seeks a packaging designer to lead the design phase from concept through production. You will craft structural designs and visual solutions for packaging, displays, and sales support, ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, strong communication, and proficiency in packaging software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to identify key elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions.
• Organize and prioritize resources to implement effective solutions.
• Clear and courteous communication with stakeholders.
• Excellent business acumen and collaborative problem solving.
• Proficient in Windows, Mac, or other technical tools.
• Expertise in tools/applications used to complete assignments.
• Mentor junior team members in using tools and systems.
• Adapt communication style to audience level.
• Understand impact of a message on the organization or customer.
• Strong knowledge of prepress production, manufacturing equipment, processes, and capabilities.
• Proficient in packaging software including AutoCAD, QuarkXPress, Freehand, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Responsibilities

• Assesses information from customer, Sales, and PM to design creative structural solutions.
• Researches existing products, ideas, and patents.
• Obtains concept approval from team and critiques.
• Designs visual communication in packaging, product mock-ups, and technical drawings.
• Prepares finished digital art with color and high-res images.
• Manages prototypes, files, and data through design to production.
• Coordinates with outside agencies, printers, and services.
• Enhances existing concepts or designs.
• Works on patenting new products and searches.
• Performs other related duties and special projects.
