Job summary

Keystone Industries in Gibbstown, NJ is seeking a Packaging Quality Inspector I to join our second shift team. The ideal candidate has prior quality control experience and is able to inspect packaging materials, approve in-process and final products, and ensure equipment is clean and compliant.

The role includes preparing COA/COC documents and supporting audits.

Qualifications

  • Experience in quality control and/or quality assurance desired but not required.
  • Ability to teach testing and inspection methods to production employees and other Packaging QC inspectors.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook and Excel).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and work with time constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Perform QC inspections of packaging materials and approve/reject inputs.
  • Test in-process and final products and release acceptable items.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper containment of equipment and areas to prevent contamination.
  • Maintain records and documents for COA/COC and QA releases.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and trainings.
  • Prepare pre-ship samples for customers and inspect them for quality.

Title:Packaging Quality Inspector I
Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate will have prior experience in quality control.
Schedule:2nd shift, 3:00pm - 11:30pm, Monday - Friday
Location:Gibbstown, NJ (08027)
Salary Range:$19-23 hourly, based on experience and qualifications. Plus, shift differential.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform quality control inspections and approve or reject incoming materials for packaging lines, including bottles, caps, brushes, labels, boxes, silk screened items, cartons, partitions. etc., according to defined requirements.
  • Perform quality control inspections/tests of in-process and final filled product and release of acceptable product.
  • Perform inspections and release of equipment and process areas before use to ensure they are clean and do not contain previous products or packaging / labeling supplies. Perform tests to ensure equipment is not contaminated from material from previous batches.
  • Ensure controls are appropriate and followed to protect product, labels and supplies from possible loss, mix-up, or contamination.
  • Place in-process materials suspected of being nonconforming on hold.
  • Perform batch quality control activities, such as sample submission to quality control laboratory, review of final test reports and the creation and upload of COA, COC and other related documents for sales and customers.
  • Complete quality control documents and production records.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of all records and sample retains according to regulatory requirements.
  • Perform thorough reviews of production documentation and identify errors or omissions.
  • Conduct Product Conformance Investigations (PCI), as assigned, on products that are believed to be nonconforming or defective.
  • Interface directly with production on issues that relate to product quality.
  • Interface directly with purchasing on issues with components or labels which relate to product quality.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Prepare and inspect pre-ship samples for sales and customers.
  • Produce customer specialty samples as necessary.
  • Complete special assignments as required/requested by Management.
  • Assist with the training of other Packaging Quality Control Inspectors.
  • Assist in the testing and evaluation of new packaging designs.
  • Create and revise computer files for printing of outer carton labels.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in quality control and/or quality assurance desired but not required.
  • Ability to teach aspects of testing and inspection methods to production employees and other Packaging QC inspectors.
  • Computer literate and proficiency in MS Office (especially Outlook and Excel).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timetables.
  • Flexible- adapt to changing tasks and expectations.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills - ability to interface and communicate/collaborate at all levels internally and externally.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of FDA, cGMP, OSHA, EPA standards.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing processing.

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associates degree or equivalent in any science field desired, but not required.

  • Understands and complies with all written safety, health, and environmental procedures.
  • Attends all required scheduled Health, Safety and Environmental training sessions.

  • Perform required administrative functions related to Health, Safety and Environmental functions such as completing forms, checklists, and log sheets.

  • Physical Demands: Employee is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend; kneel and climb. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds on a daily basis.
  • Work Environment:This position requires one to work both in an office, warehouse and production environment. There is a moderate level of noise, heat, cold, dust and dirt. Employee frequently works near moving mechanical equipment and chemicals and will be exposed to varying temperatures. The employee must be capable of handling hazardous chemicals.
