Job summary

Tandem Foods is seeking a Project Engineer to maximize project efficiency and profitability by defining specifications and driving packaging projects from design to completion.

You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and other stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, reliable manufacturing and packaging solutions, while controlling scope, schedule, and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Packaging, or a related technical discipline.
• 2–7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food/beverage with packaging/capital project exposure.
• Strong knowledge of engineering concepts including electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of packaging systems, equipment, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Strong project and time management skills with ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with project management tools; familiarity with packaging design tools such as TOPS Pro preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute capital and packaging projects by organizing project scope, schedule, budget, safety, and implementation.
• Research, specify, and analyze processing and packaging equipment to improve manufacturing effectiveness and efficiency.
• Develop expertise in highly automated food processing and packaging equipment.
• Partner with Maintenance and Plant Engineers to troubleshoot automated production lines and improve OEE.
• Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis and process optimization.
• Define project responsibilities by identifying phases, resources, and reviewing bids.
• Develop and manage project schedules and sequencing of activities.
• Manage schedules and deliverables for contributors in alignment with contracts and production schedules.
• Determine technical specifications based on product design, packaging requirements, and performance standards.
• Communicate project status updates to executive leadership.
• Prepare and present project status reports with trends, risks, and actions.
• Support new product launches and packaging changes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
• Monitor progress and resolve risks to maintain schedules.
• Control project costs and administer contractor agreements.
