Job summary

District Cannabis LLC. seeks a Packaging & Processing Department Head to oversee production execution, MCA compliance, and inventory control from harvesting through outbound delivery. You will lead a high-performing team, enforce safety standards, and ensure quality at every step.

Requirements include 5 years of management experience, 3 years in post-harvest operations, METRC/ERP experience, and a high school diploma or GED. On-site 5 days a week with competitive compensation and benefits.

  • Excellent leadership skills with integrity and business acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee harvesting, bucking, drying, and curing to SOPs and MCA standards.
  • Ensure packaging and labeling meet MCA requirements.
  • Maintain METRC inventory accuracy and regular counts.
  • Oversee outbound delivery and chain of custody.

Packaging & Processing Department Head

Our Packaging & Processing Department Head is primarily responsible for overseeing production execution while maintaining MCA compliance and District Cannabis standards in all tasks associated to harvesting, bucking, curing, trimming, packaging as well as inventory control and outbound delivery.

Your role in caring for our company:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain safety standards to ensure safe operations in all associated areas.
  • Maintain MCA compliance and District Cannabis production standards.
  • Collaborate in building a well-developed, high-performing, and cohesive team.
  • Encourage a healthy work environment.
  • Assist in training team members on a reoccurring basis to ensure company standards are communicated clearly.
  • Complete scheduling on a weekly basis utilizing District Cannabis production calendar.
  • Motivate staff to ensure production goals are met.
  • Monitor team's quality, efficiency, consistency, output, and performance and report on individual progress.
  • Ensure coverage in all associated departments to ensure production goals are achievable.
  • Place materials orders in a timely manner to ensure teams have adequate supplies.
  • Ensure work orders for damaged equipment are placed in a timely manner.
  • Complete monthly audits on all production, cleaning, and maintenance logs.
  • Report problems, accidents, unsafe conditions, or equipment trouble to management.
Process Specific Responsibilities:
  • Harvest & Post-Harvest: Oversee harvest, bucking, drying, and curing to ensure the team is following the SOPs, including monitoring environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) in dry and cure rooms.
  • Trimming & Packaging: Ensure product meets quality specifications, weights are accurate, and packaging and labeling meet MCA requirements (potency, warnings, batch and lot numbers, child-resistant packaging).
  • Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory in METRC (Maryland's seed-to-sale tracking system), including tagging, package creation, weight reconciliation, and regular inventory counts.
  • Outbound Delivery: Oversee transport manifests, chain of custody, and order accuracy for shipments to distribution center.
  • Waste & Destruction: Ensure cannabis waste is handled, recorded, and destroyed according to regulations and company SOPs.
  • Testing Coordination: Coordinate sample collection for third-party lab testing and confirm product isn't released before passing results and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) is completed.
  • Sanitation & Quality: Enforce sanitation, GMP-style practices, and contamination prevention.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify process improvements and cost savings opportunities.
Team Leadership & Performance Analytics
  • Collaborate effectively with the Human Resources Department and appropriate partners to implement and manage the company's policies and procedures.
  • Partner with the Human Resources Department to monitor staff performance, provide timely feedback, along with development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • Retain and develop top performers by understanding individual's motivations and providing actionable feedback.
  • Addresses low performance quickly, compassionately, and in alignment with company policies.
  • Manage employee's scheduling, basic time off requests, performance reviews, etc.

Qualifications we ask you to have:
  • For legal reasons, all employees need to be at least 21 years of age.
  • You will be asked to pass a Federal and State criminal history background check.
  • We ask that you have at least a high school diploma/GED.
  • We ask that you have a minimum of three (5) years of management experience.
  • We ask that you have at least three (3) years of industry experience, preferably leadership experience relating to post harvest operations.
  • We ask that you have at least one (2) years of METRC and ERP system experience.
  • We ask that you have at least two (2) years of data entry experience.
  • We ask that you haveexcellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve, personal integrity, and business acumen.
  • You are willing and able to step over 28-inch-tall rails.
  • Must be able to regularly handle plant materials and use nitrile gloves; this position requires daily exposure to cannabis plants and nitrile gloves.

  • Strong attention to detail, our plants are very delicate throughout their lifecycle!

Work Schedule/Location:
  • On-site 5 days a week.

  • This position will require PPE to be worn throughout the workday to include scrubs, masks, gloves, hairnets, and hearing protection while working with the plants. DCM will provide scrubs, masks, gloves, hairnets, and hearing protection to all employees.
