Job summary

Blue Mountain Production Company seeks a Packaging Operator II for the 7pm–7am shift to operate multiple lines of automated packaging equipment. You will set up, inspect, adjust, and monitor packaging processes to meet quality and production targets.

The role requires a HS Diploma and comfort with ERP systems (JDE RFSMART). You will read Bill of Lading, input data, and engage in safety practices while maintaining clean work areas.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass the assessment requirements for this position.
• Experience with ERP systems is preferred.
• Must be able to read Bill of Lading.

• Operates automated packaging, bulk-bagging, and palletizing equipment.
• Set-up equipment, perform daily inspections, and make minor adjustments.
• Ensures the process safely drives quality and production to standards/targets.
• Samples packaged product to verify it meets specifications.
• Identifies non-conformance events, documents event, and takes appropriate actions.
• Performs manual tasks such as hand stacking products.
• Periodically weighs product packages to ensure weight specifications are met.
• Inspects supplies such as bags, bulk bags and pallets to ensure quality and quantity levels.
• Interacts with the computer systems for compliance, reporting, and machine set-up.
• Inputs environmental, safety, production, maintenance, and shipping data into systems.
• Spot, set-up, load and move bulk trucks (when trained).
• Spot, set-up, load and move bulk railcars (when trained).
• Observes all safety rules and keeps areas clean.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Job Overview:

The Packaging Operator II operates multiple lines of automated packaging equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Operates automated packaging, bulk-bagging, and palletizing equipment
• Set-up equipment, perform daily inspections, and make minor adjustments to the equipment, as necessary.
• Ensures the process safely drives quality and production to standards/targets.
• Samples packaged product to verify it meets specifications.
• Identifies non-conformance events, documents event, and takes appropriate actions.
• Performs manual tasks such as hand stacking products.
• Periodically weighs product packages to ensure weight specifications are met.
• Inspects supplies such as bags, bulk bags and pallets to ensure useable quality and quantity levels are present and to inventory levels.
• Operates forklift to load trailers and/or move material. (Only if assigned, professionally trained, and training documented)
• Interacts with the computer systems for compliance, reporting, and machine set-up.
• Input environmental, safety, production, maintenance, and shipping data utilizing the CMMS, QMS, ERP, spreadsheets and/or handwritten paper reports.
• Spot, set-up, load and move bulk trucks. (Only if assigned, properly trained and, training documented)
• Spot, set-up, load and move bulk railcars. (Only if assigned, professionally trained, and training documented)
• Observes all safety rules, regulations, and precautions.
• Keeps areas clean and free of clutter.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet the assessment requirements for this position.

Skills & Abilities:

• Must be able to use technology to evaluate/communicate the status of the process/product and must pass computer literacy assessment. Experience with a large ERP - JDE and RFSMART preferred.
• Must be able to understand and act upon all safety and environmental requirements and other related communications.
• Must be able to visually differentiate between products and be able to hear audible alarms, instructions, and commands.
• Must be able to read and understand Bill of Lading.
• Must be able to efficiently interact with and use computer systems.
• Must be able to comprehend and follow quality management system.
• Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds frequently—duration of shift if necessary.
• Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently
• Must be able to climb ladders up to 110 feet.
• Must be able to talk and hear radio communications as well as phone.
