Job summary

Oil-Dri Corporation of America is seeking a Packaging Operator II to manage multiple lines of automated packaging equipment and ensure product quality.

Responsibilities include setting up machinery, conducting inspections, and adjusting processes to meet targets. The role requires safety awareness and proficiency with ERP systems, including JDE and RF-SMART.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must meet the assessment requirements for this position.
  • Proficient with ERP systems (JDE) and RF-SMART.

Responsibilities

  • Operates automated packaging, bulk-bagging, and palletizing equipment.
  • Set-up equipment, perform daily inspections, and make minor adjustments to the equipment.
  • Ensures the process safely drives quality and production to standards/targets.
  • Samples packaged product to verify it meets specifications.
  • Identifies non-conformance events, documents event, and takes appropriate actions.
  • Performs manual tasks such as hand stacking products.
  • Periodically weighs product packages to ensure weight specifications are met.
  • Inspects supplies such as bags, bulk bags and pallets to ensure useable quality and quantity levels are present and to inventory levels.
  • Operates forklift to load trailers and/or move material.
  • Interacts with the computer systems for compliance, reporting, and machine set-up.
  • Input environmental, safety, production, maintenance, and shipping data utilizing the CMMS, QMS, ERP, spreadsheets and/or handwritten paper reports.
  • Spot, set-up, load and move bulk trucks./Spot, set-up, load and move bulk railcars.
  • Observes all safety rules, regulations, and precautions.
  • Keeps areas clean and free of clutter.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

The Packaging Operator II operates multiple lines of automated packaging equipment.

Education
Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must meet the assessment requirements for this position.
Skills & Abilities
  • Must be able to use technology to evaluate/communicate the status of the process/product and must pass computer literacy assessment. Experience with a large ERP - JDE and RFSMART preferred.
  • Must be able to understand and act upon all safety and environmental requirements and other related communications.
  • Must be able to visually differentiate between products and be able to hear audible alarms, instructions, and commands.
  • Must be able to read and understand Bill of Lading.
  • Must be able to efficiently interact with and use computer systems.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow quality management system.
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds frequently - duration of shift if necessary.
  • Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 110 feet.
  • Must be able to talk and hear radio communications as well as phone.

Starting Pay: $22.99/hr
