Job summary

Oil-Dri Corporation of America is seeking a Lead Person, Packaging Multi-Line in Georgia to direct two or more packaging lines and troubleshoot issues. The role involves providing guidance to packaging groups and operating automated equipment on a 3p-11p shift.

Job description

The Lead Person, Packaging Multi-Line is responsible for providing direction and troubleshooting over two or more packaging lines. This is in addition to working at the highest level of the packaging work to which direction is being given.

Spends up to 50% of work time providing guidance to others in the packaging work groups including troubleshooting problems.

Provides to supervisors on performance of team members, but is not responsible for the evaluation and actions taken regarding team members.

Maintains highest level of skills in the packaging area in which guidance is given:

  • Operates automated packaging and palletizing equipment.
  • Sets-up equipment and performs daily inspections and makes minor adjustments to the equipment as necessary.
  • Samples packaged product, to verify if meets specifications.
  • Identifies non-conformance events and takes appropriate actions.
  • Performs manual tasks such as hand stacking product.
  • Periodically weighs product packages to ensure weight specifications are met.
  • Inspects supplies such as bags, super-sacks and pallets to ensure useable quality and quantity levels are present and to inventory levels.
  • Operates forklift to load trailers (SP & Powders Only) and/or move material.
  • Interacts with the computer systems for compliance and reporting.
  • Input environmental, production and shipping records utilizing the CMS, AS400, Spreadsheets and/or hand written paper reports.
  • Spot, set-up, load and move bulk trucks. (SP & Powders Only)
  • Spot, set-up, load and move bulk railcars. (SP & Powders Only)
  • Keeps areas clean and free of clutter.
  • Observes all safety rules, regulations and precautions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in process improvement activities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds frequently—duration off shift if necessary.
  • Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently
  • Must be able to climb ladders over 100 feet.
  • Must be able to talk and hear radio communications as well as phone.

Hire rate: $24.77 + $2.00 shift differential
