Job summary

Infra Pipes is seeking a Packaging Operator to maintain HDPE pipe quality throughout manufacturing and packaging. You will monitor the process, verify print and markings, ensure reels meet size specifications, and assist line start-ups as needed to keep output consistent and compliant with orders.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years in packaging/manufacturing roles.
  • Able to perform basic math and measurements.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a forklift.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor product quality during manufacturing and packaging to meet order requirements.
  • Operate forklifts to move reels and finished product.
  • Prepare reels for startup and ensure correct wraps and sizes.
  • Complete line operations paperwork for inventory transactions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow safety guidelines.
  • Assist extrusion tech and other packaging specialists as needed.
  • Transport finished product to inventory.
  • Report adjustments to line supervisor before proceeding.

Job description

The Packaging Operator is responsible for maintaining the quality of the extruded (HDPE pipe) product throughout the manufacturing and packaging process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operator monitors and checks product during manufacturing process to meets the order requirements.
  • Monitors print and footage markings. Makes corrections as needed.
  • Monitors for continuous stripe (if required).
  • Knows and understands the quality requirements for all products being produced.
  • Makes corrections as needed to meet order specifications and informs the line supervisor before making the necessary adjustments.
  • Uses reel components to build reels to size specifications.
  • Places the correct reel onto the coiler and prepare for startup. Reel must be in good physical condition.
  • Ensures wraps on reels are correct and neat.
  • Cuts conduit, ties-off and caps conduit when each reel is complete.
  • Removes reel from the coiler using a forklift and transports the finished product into inventory.
  • Grinds material scrap as it is produced and stacks scrap.
  • Assists the extrusion tech in line start-ups.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
  • Assists other packaging specialist in cutting conduit, tie-offs, and reel changes.
  • Follows all safety requirements for this position and all company safety guidelines.
  • Completes appropriate line operations paperwork to ensure accurate inventory transactions.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience performing the essential functions listed above
  • Ability to perform simple math including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and take measurements.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Must display very good organization and time management skills
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities
  • Must have sound judgment and discretional skills and be able to work with little supervision
  • Must be able to consistently work under pressure and simultaneously prioritize multiple projects
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English
  • Must have a clean driving record and a valid, current driver’s license and vehicle insurance

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Walk, sit, stand, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
  • Use hands for repetitive motions, equipment handling, and keyboarding.
  • Visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color distinction, and focus adjustment.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Work in moderate to high noise environments and varying indoor/outdoor conditions including heat, cold, humidity, dust, fumes, vibration, and moving machinery.
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, reflective clothing, and safety boots.
