Shaw Industries is seeking a Packaging Operator to support the Calender department and packaging area by handling raw materials/WIP, operating Calendering and Packaging equipment, and driving a lift truck.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production lines with correct materials per Shop Floor System
• Operate and troubleshoot packaging equipment
• Move WIP to appropriate bins and track data accurately
• Assist Calender Techs with equipment operation and quality tools
• Perform safety checks on powered industrial trucks and change batteries as needed
• Conduct quality checks and assist with inventory cycle counts
• Remove calender rolls, wrap, strap, and ticket rolls for storage
• Operate and maintain packaging equipment and manage inventory of consumables
• Work scheduled days with overtime as required

Qualifications

• Ability to operate lift trucks safely (loaded and unloaded)
• Ability to operate battery changing stations safely
• Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Willingness to learn computer systems and software
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Decision-making skills and physical ability to get on/off lift trucks frequently
• Meet vision requirements, including color blindness testing
• Ability to tolerate temperature/humidity changes and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills; capable of reading shipping documents and storage labels
• Successful completion of forklift training and testing

Preferred Skills

• Experience with powered industrial trucks and safety record
• Experience in continuous manufacturing processes

Work Shift

12-hour non-rotating shifts, day hours, following an observed calendar, starting in the AM.
