Job summary

System One in Lakewood, New Jersey is seeking a Packaging Operator for a contract-to-hire position onsite with hours 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm. The role processes chemicals into sealants, adhesives, mortars and related products, using manual or semi-automatic systems.

Responsibilities include loading materials, monitoring gauges, drawing QC samples, operating a forklift to palletize and stage goods for transport, performing minor maintenance, and supporting safety compliance on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and comprehend documents in English.
• Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve technical problems in the work area.
• Lift up to 75 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.

• Operate manual or semiautomatic systems processing chemical substances into products such as sealants, adhesives, mortars, primers, and intermediates.
• Load specified amounts of solid materials into heating/cooling vessels or blending tanks and set controls to start automatic feed.
• Monitor chemical reactions, gauges, signals, and recorders; receive notifications to make operating adjustments.
• Draw samples for quality control analysis and perform QC checks to ensure products meet specifications.
• Use a forklift to package, palletize, shrink-wrap, and stage products for transport to external warehouses.
• Perform minor maintenance of equipment and work areas; maintain housekeeping and safety rules.
• Assist with special projects and ensure conformance with safety regulations.

Packaging Operator Responsibilities:

• Operate manual or semiautomatic systems processing chemical substances into industrial or consumer products such as sealants, adhesives, mortars, primers, and intermediates.
• Load specified amounts of solid materials into heating/cooling vessels or blending tanks and set controls in specified sequences to start automatic feed.
• Monitor chemical reactions, gauges, signals, and recorders; receive notifications to make operating adjustments.
• Draw samples for quality control analysis and perform chemical tests/QC checks to ensure product conforms to specifications using standard test equipment, materials, and procedures.
• Use a forklift to package, palletize, shrink-wrap, and stage products into a staging area or directly onto trucks for transportation to external warehouses.
• Perform minor maintenance of equipment, workstations, and manufacturing areas; maintain good housekeeping and adhere to all safety rules.
• Assist with special projects as needed and ensure conformance with safety regulations.

Packaging Operator Requirements:

• High School graduate; trade school certification in electronics or related field preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend documents in English.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve technical problems in the work area.
