Job summary

System One is seeking a reliable Packaging Operator to support packaging operations in a high-hazard manufacturing environment in East Hanover, NJ. The role requires 1–3 years of relevant experience, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work a rotating/extended shift with significant overtime.

The position is a long-term contract with an onsite work model. You will operate packaging machinery, monitor performance, perform basic repairs, and maintain a clean, compliant work area

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Ability and willingness to work rotating/extended shifts, including 12-hour shifts as required.
• Ability and willingness to work significant overtime, including weekends, holidays, and short-notice call-ins when needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform packaging operations according to customer orders and production requirements.
• Operate packaging machinery safely and efficiently to meet production goals.
• Monitor equipment to ensure machinery is operating properly and safely.
• Perform minor repairs and basic troubleshooting of packaging equipment.
• Safely handle hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with plant procedures and environmental regulations.
• Stock and maintain packaging materials, including pallets, slip sheets, tape, labels, trash boxes, ties, and other supplies.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area through routine housekeeping.
• Follow all company requirements related to safety, health, environmental compliance, and ethical conduct.
• Meet and maintain production, quality, and equipment performance standards.
• Support and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour
Work Model: Onsite
Schedule: 2nd Shift, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Overtime: Heavy overtime required; may include 1–2 additional hours per day and occasional Saturdays

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Ability and willingness to work rotating/extended shifts, including 12-hour shifts as required.
• Ability and willingness to work significant overtime, including weekends, holidays, and short-notice call-ins when needed.
• Ability and willingness to wear required PPE, including steel-toe footwear, hard hat, protective eyewear, face shields, arc-rated protective clothing, and SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus).
• Comfortable working in a high-hazard process environment.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and columns as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, and reach overhead for extended periods.
• Ability to hear and respond appropriately to alarms and other safety signals.
• Sufficient visual acuity to perform close work safely and accurately.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures.
