Job summary

Idaho Milk Products in Jerome, Idaho is seeking a Packaging Operator for the night shift (6:00pm–6:30am) at the Main Plant. You will support the Packaging team by bagging and storing products, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, and maintaining GMPs, sanitation, and performance measures.

Responsibilities include reading and maintaining logs, auditing metal detectors, and transferring finished product to the warehouse.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Packaging experience preferred.
  • Milk processing plant experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and maintain Packaging Log Sheets.
  • Conduct daily audits of CCP charts Metal Detection.
  • File all charts, log sheets, and production documents with precision.
  • Maintain Metal Detector charts and Metal Detector Log Sheets.
  • Track and record Animal Feed weights by product.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethics and foster a culture of teamwork.
  • Adhere to all plant, OSHA, and Safety Regulations.
  • Transfer finished product from the palletizing room to the Warehouse.
  • Scan packaged products into the inventory management system.
  • Inspect all product packaging for defects.
  • Perform any other projects as assigned.

Position Summary

As a Packaging Operator, you will play a vital role in our organization by supporting the Packaging team in packaging and storing bagged and tote products. Position Specifications/Qualifications
Education

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience

Experience
  • Forklift experience is preferred
  • Packaging experience is preferred
  • Milk processing plant experience is a plus

Physical Requirements
  • Excessive ascending and descending of ladders and stairs using feet and legs and hands and arms regularly. Body agility is emphasized
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances regularly
  • Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time on concrete
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist on a regular basis
  • Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction
  • Pushing: Using the upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at the knee to come to rest on the knee or knees occasionally
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
  • Lifting: Able to lift up to 55lbs on a regular basis, up to 60lbs occasionally
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Includes activities in which they must accurately, loudly, or quickly convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers.
  • Subject to at least 92db’s
  • Subject to temperatures up to 90 degrees.
Machines Operated
  • Office machines (e.g., personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, and phone)
  • Various packaging equipment including powder storage bins, transfer lines, hoppers, bagging equipment, metal detection equipment, inkjets, palletizer, stretch wrappers, fork-lifts, dock doors, dock levelers, and hand tools
