Job summary

ADP, Inc. in North Carolina seeks a packaging operator to support manufacturing operations. You will review packaging priorities, verify labels, and monitor scales to ensure accurate packaging before loading onto trailers.

The role requires lifting, climbing stairs, and operating packaging equipment with an emphasis on safety and efficiency. You will work per SOPs with the warehouse team, maintain barcode accuracy, and participate in housekeeping and continuous improvement of SOPs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong equipment and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot on the fly.
  • Learn and become proficient with provided computer tools.
  • Understand how equipment and process affect product properties.
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Understand ESHA and regulatory issues.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts.
  • Climb 5 sets of stairs.
  • Lift 50 lbs to chest level.
  • Use hand tools to tighten bolts.
  • Operate forklift or other PIV.

Responsibilities

  • Review packaging priorities and communicate needs to warehouse.
  • Verify labels from control room for finished product labels.
  • Verify scale accuracy per progression guide and record data before packaging each shift.
  • Operate packaging equipment and address reliability issues.
  • Package finished product per SOP and move to trailers.
  • Complete turnarounds on packaging equipment per SOP/checklist.
  • Coordinate movement of finished product trailers with warehouse.
  • Verify correct material used in packaging.
  • Monitor classifier during transfer and address reliability issues.
  • Follow barcoding protocol for inventory management of materials.
  • Ensure housekeeping meets standard for packaging areas and bins.
  • Perform tasks per SOP, SOC, special instructions.
  • Conduct Behavior Observations and communicate HazRecs and Near Miss.
  • Provide inputs to improve SOPs.

  • Ability to:
  • work rotating shifts
  • climb 5 sets of stairs (5 stories)
  • lift 50lbs to chest level
  • use hand tools to tighten bolts
  • operate a forklift (sit down and walk behind walkies) or other PIV (Power Industrial Vehicle)
  • Review packaging priorities, communicate needs to warehouse, and receive packaging supplies
  • Verify labels from control room for finished product labels
  • Verify scale accuracy per progression guide and record before packaging each shift
  • Operate packaging equipment and elevate emerging reliability issues
  • Package finished product per SOP and move to trailers
  • Complete turnarounds on packaging equip. (classifier, packaging station) per SOP/checklist
  • Coordinate movement of finished product trailers with warehouse
  • Verifies and validate the correct material to be used in packaging
  • Monitor classifier during transfer and elevate potential reliability and quality issues
  • Follow barcoding protocol for proper inventory management of materials
  • Ensure housekeeping meets standard for area (packaging station, classifier, East Warehouse) and trash cans/waste product bins emptied
  • Perform tasks per SOP, SOC, special instructions (e.g. weighing, bagging …)
  • Conduct Behavior Observations (BBO) and communicate HazRecs and Near Miss
  • Provide inputs to improve SOPs
  • Perform general housekeeping responsibilities in operations areas as needed.
