Job summary

MGP Ingredients is seeking a Packaging Operator to join our team in Atchison, KS. You will manage packaging equipment and perform in-plant testing to verify product specifications, ensuring smooth production flow and adherence to quality standards.

Responsibilities include learning and operating bag/box fillers, sealers, and related equipment; handling forklifts; performing changeovers; executing sanitation and allergen cleaning; and maintaining accurate data records while safely meeting

• Operate packaging equipment (bag/box filler, bag sealer, box taper, check weigher, pallet stretch wrapper).
• Operate forklifts and pallet jacks for loading/unloading trucks and material handling.
• Perform changeovers between products and packaging formats efficiently.
• Conduct sanitation during changeovers; allergen cleaning as needed.
• Maintain sanitation to meet BRC requirements and document processes.
• Enter required data on computers and maintain accurate records.

Job description

MGP Ingredients is a leading supplier of premium distilled spirits and food ingredient solutions. Its Distilling Solutions segment provides bourbons, whiskeys, ryes, gins, and vodkas to craft and multinational brands. MGP's own Branded Spirts business is growing following the 2021 acquisition of Luxco, a top spirits producer, bottler, supplier, and importer as well as the 2023 acquisition of Penelope Bourbon, known for its wide range of uniquely blended expressions. THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Packaging Operator to join our MGP team in Atchison, KS. As an Operator, you are responsible for managing equipment and conducting in-plant testing on production samples to verify product is within established specifications.

What You Will Be Doing

• Must have the ability to learn to operate packaging equipment, such as a bag/box filler, bag sealer, box taper, check weigher, pallet stretch wrapper and, all other equipment post-dryer.
• Must have the ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload trucks and learn the processes for documenting incoming and outgoing materials.
• Must be able to perform changeovers from different products and different packaging efficiently.
• Ability to perform Sanitation during changeovers which will include both wet and dry cleaning. Ability to work safely with sanitation chemicals. Must be able to efficiently perform allergen cleaning when needed of all plant equipment.
• Housekeeping as required. Maintain sanitation level to meet BRC requirements.
• Knowledge of computers and the ability to enter required data on computers.
• Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to operate in a team environment.
• Ability to operate with minimal supervision. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines. Ability to operate multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Operator must operate in a safe, efficient and productive manner.
• Wear personal protective equipment and other safety equipment as needed.
• Basic mathematic, writing and mechanical skills are required.
• Overtime as required. Shift and days off subject to change.
• Perform other duties assigned by management as required.
