Job summary

Lactalis in Buffalo, NY is hiring a Packaging Mechanic for the 1st shift. The holder will be responsible for maintaining packaging equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and learning to work on electrical and piping systems with guidance from senior mechanics.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, some trade training in electrical or mechanical fields, and dairy experience is a plus. A valid driver’s license is required, with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities

Responsibilities

• Maintains machines with respect to bearings, assembly, disassembly, power transmission, rigging, and lubrication.
• Performs bench work using common hand tools.
• Collaborates with an upper-class mechanic on electrical systems and components.
• Learns rudimentary pipefitting of water, steam, and air lines with steel, plastic, and copper pipes.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance; assists on major overhauls; reports issues.
• Trains on shop equipment and machinery.
• Assists in job layouts and material ordering with upper-class mechanics.
• Assists in troubleshooting and diagnosing machine failures.
• Prepares for work daily with required hand tools.
