Job summary

Sonoco in Chatham, NY is seeking an Inspector Packer to ensure accurate packaging and quality. You will make boxes with labels, transfer products to packaging and inspect items for conformance to specifications.

You will use gauges to check dimensions, notify supervisors of any quality problems, discard items that fail, seal containers, and stack them on skids. Training will cover our products and quality requirements; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
• Manual dexterity and ability to stand and perform repetitive motions.
• Good relation with others and effective communication.
• Reliable with initiative and quality focus.

Responsibilities

• Make boxes with appropriate labels attached.
• Transfer product to appropriate package using packing methods.
• Inspect products for conformance to specifications.
• Use gauges to check basic dimensions or other specifications.
• Notify supervisor when quality problems are detected.
• Discard products not meeting specifications.
• Seal containers and place on skid utilizing the box lifter.
• Work safely and follow all rules; overtime may be required.
• Gain product knowledge during training period.
• Communicate with supervisors and peers to maintain cooperation.
