Job summary

American Sugar Refining is seeking a Packaging Mechanic B to maintain and repair packaging and production equipment on the distribution center floor. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems, use precision gauges, and keep safety a priority in a fast-paced industrial setting.

The role requires basic mechanical knowledge, commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting production and maintaining quality and uptime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience; 2 years preferred.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and tools, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, gauges/indicator systems.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards.
• Must possess common mechanic tools.
• Must pass mandatory Scientific Management Test.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on packaging and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues.
• Use gauges, indicators, and diagnostic tools to identify equipment problems.
• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to OSHA regulations and standards.
• Inspect equipment and recommend corrective actions to prevent breakdowns.
• Utilize common mechanic hand tools to complete tasks.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality.
• Support production operations by responding to equipment issues promptly.
• Maintain attendance and flexibility for weekends, holidays, shifts, and off-shift schedules.
