Job summary

Michigan Sugar Company seeks a full-time Mechanic at its Bay City Factory Packaging & Warehouse facility to maintain and repair packaging and sugar-path equipment. You will follow GMP/SQF guidelines while maintaining quality and improving production.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, parts tracking, downtime reduction, and weekend/overtime work during peak season. Prior experience and PLC proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• College certificate or license in maintenance field.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prefered 3 years of industrial mechanic work.
• Prefered knowledge of plumbing and compressed air systems.
• Ability to navigate computers and PLCs to operate machinery.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical repairs and perform change overs on packaging equipment.
• Order and track all parts from start to finish with the maintenance coordinator and parts cage attendant.
• Navigate parts location in parts cage and charge parts out to equipment number.
• Provide support to supervisors, foreman, team leaders and maintenance crews to minimize downtime.
• Monitor and repair all inbound and outbound sugar path equipment and perform summer maintenance.
• Respond to radio calls for mechanical repairs and report downtime to supervisor or foreman.
• Complete all assigned work orders and find projects to fill your schedule.
• Fill out daily shift change forms and information handoff.
• Research and store information on maintenance website and files for future use.
• Measure and determine size and quantity of materials and manage inventories.
• Use tools and measuring devices such as calipers, shiv alignment, temp readers.
• Rigging and lifting equipment and parts across multiple floors.
• Understand blue print reading and basic mathematical calculations.
• Work weekends every 3rd weekend and overtime during summer maintenance.
