Job summary

KanPak is seeking a Packaging Engineer II to develop, optimize, and improve packaging systems in a high-speed food manufacturing environment. This role ensures packaging solutions are safe, compliant, cost-effective, and visually appealing while meeting KanPak’s standards.

The engineer leads packaging line performance and uses data-driven analysis and continuous improvement tools to increase throughput. This position involves cross-functional collaboration, supplier and customer interaction, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 3 to 6 years of relevant work experience.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Experience interacting with customers is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide recommendations to management on new or modified packaging options, including evaluating needs and conducting cost analyses.
• Drive development of prototype systems and package designs, assess risks and establish parameters.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with customers to identify packaging requirements and provide optimal solutions.
• Manage packaging audits and trials, set specifications for materials, and establish pallet configurations for compliance.
• Partner with project management, operations, and food scientists to support commercialization of new items.
• Support label creation and maintain artwork libraries.
• Create and maintain packaging specifications, drawings, and bill of materials in systems.
• Assist with projects related to purchasing efficiency and work with Quality to resolve concerns.
• Conduct benchmark studies of industry packaging capabilities to improve processes.
• Travel up to 25%.
