Job summary

Melaleuca: The Wellness Company is seeking a Packaging Engineer with 3+ years of consumer packaging experience. You will work across a diverse product portfolio including food, nutrition, dietary supplements, personal care, and other consumer products, spanning development to production troubleshooting at our Idaho Falls HQ.

Join a small, collaborative packaging team and partner with R&D, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and suppliers to drive packaging strategies and solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Packaging Science, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of professional packaging experience in consumer products.
• Hands-on experience developing, testing, qualifying, commercializing, or troubleshooting consumer packaging.
• Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively across technical, manufacturing, commercial, and supplier teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in food, beverage, nutrition, dietary supplements, personal care, or other CPG categories is valuable.
• Familiarity with packaging testing, ASTM/ISTA standards, GMP environments, packaging test equipment, or basic statistical analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and qualify packaging solutions for new and existing products across food, nutrition, and supplements.
• Recommend materials, components, and configurations based on requirements, performance, cost, and consumer needs.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to move packaging from development through commercialization.
• Plan and support packaging testing, line trials, qualifications, and troubleshooting of issues.
• Develop and maintain packaging specifications and evaluate components, drawings, and prototypes.
• Conduct packaging studies (compatibility, functionality, dimensional, weight-loss).
• Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate new materials and prototypes.
• Serve as packaging SME on cross-functional product development teams for domestic and international products.
