Job summary

Dennis Group seeks a student engineer to assist packaging line design and equipment specification for food and beverage facilities. You will help interpret design requirements, prepare testing procedures, and support on-site coordination and layout tasks.

The role involves collaboration across engineering disciplines, with travel up to 50% to project sites. Strong knowledge of packaging principles and AutoCAD is preferred.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, packaging, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Willing to travel to project sites – potentially 30% to 50%.
• Familiarity with process flow diagrams and P&IDs is a plus.
• Strong problem solving, organizing, and time management skills.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing and packaging design principles including conveyance, wrapping, bagging, cartoning, filling, bottling, case packing and palletizing.

Responsibilities

• Develop design concepts, estimates and functional specifications for packaging lines.
• Interpret mechanical design requirements and customer specs to realize the packaging system design.
• Specify, purchase, install and commission packaging equipment.
• Coordinate on-site construction projects and manage progress.
• Develop machine and process design.
• Prepare machine testing requirements and procedures.
• Create equipment specifications, purchase docs and facility layouts.
