Job Summary:
The Packaging Engineer designs, tests, and implements packaging designs that are an integral part of the organization’s product launch process. They also review and improve existing packaging designs. This individual develops, designs, and tests standards and guidelines for developing packaging solutions for the organization’s products. They work with internal resources and packaging suppliers to achieve functional packaging goals. The individual will also be responsible for implementing cost-effective packaging solutions, troubleshooting and solving packaging concerns, and maintaining all packaging. This will be achieved by maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee and manage the complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing.
- Establish standards for master labels.
- Review part packaging for cost savings and optimization of space (both internal box space and warehouse space).
- Resolve customer complaints with regards to packaging and work with manufacturing on an appropriate solution.
- Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
- Manage the master packaging data, of both manufactured and purchased materials.
- Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
- Creates packaging related Work Instructions, provides training for appropriate personnel supporting these operations.
- Develop and design specialty packaging methods and solutions for non-standard items.
- Review customer labeling and packaging specifications; respond to all customer packaging information requests.
- Maintain updated packaging drawings for all parts being manufactured.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or other relevant field.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to produce information in a clear and concise attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prior experience working with customers and developing mutually beneficial solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
- Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Proficient in CAD preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license, with an acceptable driving record, along with adequate.
