Job summary

Delta Faucet Company in Indianapolis is seeking an Experienced Packaging Engineer to join the Packaging Engineering Team. You will design, develop, and implement packaging solutions, coordinating with Marketing, Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing and suppliers to support new product development, quality improvements, and cost reductions.

You will lead packaging design control, analyze and solve packaging challenges, and ensure compliance with graphics and regulatory information.

Qualifications

  • BS in Packaging Engineering or related degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with corrugated, folding cartons, plastic thermoforms, pulp trays and fabricated foams.
  • Packaging development, production and printing processes; material selection; engineering documentation and packaging standards; and standardized transportation testing.
  • Design for manufacturability, ergonomics and PPAP steps for verification and validation of first production packaging from suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design, development and production of packaging components and graphics with external partners.
  • Serve as technical lead for packaging on specific projects and own packaging design control.
  • Collaborate with marketing, engineering and operations to develop innovative packaging concepts and graphics.
  • Analyze packaging problems, identify root causes and develop options for opportunities.
  • Apply company standards to ensure graphics, copy and compliance information is accurately applied.
  • Verify efficiency of packaging designs by ISTA-standard transit and environmental tests.
  • Issue ECOs and communicate implications of packaging changes to affected areas.
  • Develop packaging quality improvements, cost reductions, and customizations.
  • Create packaging drawings, samples and written analyses for approvals.
  • Develop pallet stacking patterns, packaging layouts and assembly instructions.
  • Maintain packaging attribute data within ERP/PLM system.
  • Ensure designs stay aligned with operations and ergonomic requirements.

You also should possess analytical ability and technical expertise in available packaging materials, packaging material manufacturing processes and a deep understanding of the way in which products are packaged in a consumer products manufacturing environment.
